Tulsa's Citizen Crime Commission needs volunteers

A rise in violent crime has the Citizens Crime Commission crying for help in fighting back. A rash of recent wildfires and armed robberies that are increasingly violent have stretched the group to its breaking point.

Neighborhood meetings have doubled. They average one a night, but some nights there are two or more.

Carol Bush with the Citizens Crime Commission: "We're getting calls from Owasso area, Broken Arrow area, Jenks area. The county line is definitely becoming more blurred, as is the city-limits. We have a neighborhood meeting we're doing in Prue, so even out in Lake Country, we're seeing crime escalating."

Oklahoma's wildfires have turned up the heat even more. Calls to the Commission's Arrest Arson hotline have been pouring in.

The group says its 20 unpaid workers have about all they can handle, and they need to double their volunteer base.
