Several Tulsa based non-profit organizations got big bucks Tuesday to help with the fight against breast cancer.

The Tulsa chapter of the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation awarded $340,000 in grants to three local organizations.

$271,000 went to Tulsa Project Woman Incorporated, nearly $56,000 went to Indian Health Care Resources center and the remaining $12,000 was given to the Northeastern Oklahoma affiliate of the YME National Breast Cancer Organization.

Chris Payne with the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation: "we're really pleased with the support we get in the Tulsa Community even in times of economic difficulty people are very giving, inspite of that, and its helped us to help alot of people who others couldn't have afforded treatment by themselves."

All of the grant recipient organizations have demonstrated a commitment to making a difference in the lives of Tulsa residents through their breast cancer health programs.

Most of the money raised comes from the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.
