OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Congressman Ernest Istook says there is no truth to speculation on the Internet that he'll drop out of the race for governor because of contributions from former lobbyist Jack Abramoff
The Republican Istook plans to challenge Democratic incumbent Governor Brad Henry.
Istook says an Internet blog report that he might drop out of the race because of contributions from the convicted Abramoff is a rumor started by Democrats.
Abramoff pleaded guilty earlier this month to federal charges as part of a probe into possible corruption by Members of Congress or their aides.
Istook is donating to medical research about $6,000 in contributions from Abramoff to his campaign and political action committee. Istook is also donating to the Boy Scouts about $2,300 in donations from Abramoff's associates and clients.
