HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) _ Soldiers from Oklahoma will be among about 1,500 from six states and Puerto to begin training at Camp Shelby in Mississippi next month.
The soldiers from the 41st Brigade Combat Team will have one of two missions.
About 45 percent will provide security or force protection when they're sent to Afghanistan while the remainder will be training soldiers in the Afghan army.
The brigade was put on alert in November to prepare for the training and deployment and will be part of Task Force Phoenix when they deploy in July.
