OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Senator Jim Inhofe says he'll donate $2,000 in campaign donations from former lobbyist Jack Abramoff to medical research.

The Oklahoma Republican says the 2002 donation is legal. But Inhofe is joining a growing list of lawmakers in getting rid of Abramoff money. According to federal election records, Inhofe got $1,000 from Abramoff and $1,000 from Abramoff's wife in February 2002.

Abramoff has pleaded guilty to federal charges as part of a deal with prosecutors to cooperate in a probe that could involve up to 20 members of Congress and aides.

Inhofe says Abramoff's financial contribution has no place in his campaign. He says he'll donate the money to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
