A champion of kids all across Tulsa has passed away. Ed Lacy was an athlete, coach, mentor and educator.

Over the years, he earned the respect of everyone who came in contact with him. Lacy worked as the Athletic Director for Tulsa Public Schools for decades.

He also coached championship teams at Booker T Washington during the 60â€™s and 70â€™s.

The students and staff at Booker T Washington observed a moment of silence Wednesday to mark Lacy's death. Principal Boyles says they plan to do more to remember his life and recognize his accomplishments.

Lacy's funeral will be Saturday morning. He was 84.
