OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson is warning of possible scams in the aftermath of wildfires that have destroyed homes and other property.
Edmondson says fraudulent building contractors could try to take advantage of Oklahomans whose homes have been damaged or destroyed.
He says there are several clues to watch for including contractors who solicit door-to-door, offer discounts for residents who find other customers or just ``happens'' to have material left over from a previous job.
Also be suspicious of people who want only cash payments, pressures for an immediate decision or asks to pay for the entire job up front.
Edmondson says residents should also be on the watch for phony charitable solicitations.
The attorney general's consumer protection hotline number is 405-521-2029.
