WANETTE, Okla. (AP) _ One man is dead following a head-on collision in Pottawatomie County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Rowland Newton of Wanette died just before 9:30 Thursday night in the crash on State Highway 39.

Troopers say Newton was eastbound when his car crossed the center line and collided with a sport utility vehicle. The driver of the SUV is hospitalized in serious condition.
