The dry cold weather is really causing problems for city crews fixing water line breaks. The breaks are all over Tulsa.

The frigid weather has caused dozens of water lines to burst. At last count, crews worked on at least 53 different breaks. All of those breaks are taking a toll on the men and women fixing them.

Workers say this is already the worst season they've seen in years. The dry, cold conditions cause the ground to shift, rupturing one line after another.

The city of Tulsa says this non-stop job takes all the water department personnel it has. Jack Pennington with Tulsa’s public works department: "We work our crews anywhere from 12 to 16 hours, send em home for some rest, bring 'em right back in and start again."

They're hoping to get some help from Mother Nature to keep the rest of the pipes in place.

Workers say they could really use some snow to help insulate the lines.
