OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The military has identified remains found in Laos as that of a US Air Force sergeant from Cordell who disappeared during the Vietnam War in 1968.
The family of Sergeant Pat Shannon say a leg bone was identified through DNA testing as being that of Shannon.
Shannon was one of eleven radar technicians killed when North Vietnamese soldiers attacked a secret radar installation on a mountain top in northeastern Laos. The site was used to guide Air Force bombers to Hanoi.
The remains were found last year on the side on the side of a cliff where the bodies were thrown.
Shannon's daughter, Pamela Shannon, says the family is now planning a springtime funeral service for her father in Oklahoma City.
