OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma is one of 34 states and the District of Columbia who are suing two pharmaceutical companies, accusing them of conspiring to keep generic versions the prescription medicine Ovcon off the market.
The suit, filed Friday in federal court in Washington DC, alleges Warner-Chilcott paid Barr Pharmaceuticals $20 million to keep Barr from marketing a generic version of the contraceptive.
Warner-Chilcott is the only company in the U.S. that markets the drug.
During a time of soaring prescription prices, "it is unconscionable that pharmaceutical companies would work together to drive prices even higher."
