OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Saturday's Class 5A state semifinal high school football game between Shawnee and East Central in Choctaw is being postponed.
The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association is postponing the game so it can appeal a judge's ruling that allows Shawnee quarterback Tucker Brown to play in the game.
Brown was suspended for two games after being thrown out of last Saturday's game against Booker T- Washington when he kicked a Washington player. The Washington player had jumped offsides late in the game and grabbed Brown's helmet and thrown him to the ground.
Brown's family appealed his suspension and a judge ordered on Wednesday that he be allowed to play.
Courts were closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving and OSSAA director Danny Rennels says this Saturday's game is being postponed until the association's appeals is decided by the state Supreme Court.
Rennels says it's undisputed that Brown kicked an opponent and OSSAA rules call for a two-game suspension.
