WELLSTON, Okla. (AP) An 85-year-old woman was killed when the car she was riding in veered off a state highway in Lincoln County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Evelyn I. Pester of Seminole was pronounced dead at the scene of yesterday morning's crash three miles west of Wellston.
Troopers say the mishap occurred at 8:40AM Thursday on Oklahoma 66. The vehicle was westbound when it ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
Pester suffered head and neck injuries. The driver, 88-year-old Wayne Pester of Seminole, was pinned in the wreckage for 10 minutes before he was freed by the Wellston Fire Department.
He was listed in stable condition in an Oklahoma City hospital with head injuries.
