OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reports that the state's unemployment rate dipped to 4.1 percent in October, reflecting strong growth in the health services and manufacturing segments of the economy.

Last month's unemployment rate represents a one-tenth-of-one percent drop from September's revised rate of 4.2 percent and was considerably below the 4.5 percent rate recorded in October 2004.

Oklahoma's unemployment rate in October was the lowest in the seven-state region, according to the OESC. Unemployment stood at 4.2 in Arkansas, 4.5 percent in Missouri and 5 percent in Texas.

The agency reports about 1.6 million people were employed in Oklahoma in October and more than 71,000 were unemployed.
