LAWTON, Okla. (AP) -- About 200 Oklahoma National Guard troops are on their way home from Iraq.
Troops from the 245th Aviation Battalion -- based in Lexington and Tulsa -- are set to arrive in Lawton this weekend.
The troops spent nearly a year in Iraq providing air traffic control support.
National Guard Colonel Pat Scully says the troops are expected to arrive at the Lawton Municipal airport Saturday afternoon. The troops will be welcomed home during ceremonies later at Fort Sill.
About 200 members of the Army National Guard are currently deployed overseas, mostly in Iraq. In addition, about 300 members of the Air National Guard are serving in Iraq.
About 9,500 men and women serve in the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard.
