McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Former McAlester City Manager Randy Green has pleaded innocent to charges that he embezzled money from programs that received federal funds.
Green, who entered the plea Wednesday, is to go on trial in January.
A federal indictment accuses him of taking at least $25,000 in U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration funds. The charges didn't address the $579,000 in unused leave pay Green received that led to his termination, which sparked a scandal that ultimately led to the resignations of the mayor and other council members.
Green is free on $10,000 bond.
