One person was killed in an unusual accident in Sand Springs early Wednesday morning. It happened on US Highway 412 near the Adams Road exit.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and Sand Springs Police say the driver of a dump truck ran over a trailer pulled by a pickup truck. The trailer didn't have lights on it. That caused the pickup to roll down an embankment and left debris on the expressway.
The debris caused a traffic tie up in the eastbound lanes. The driver of the pickup, 64 year old Wesley Sipes of Tulsa, died from internal injuries, after he was taken to a Tulsa hospital.
That tie-up may have led to another accident about a mile away on state highway 97. Two vehicles collided causing some serious damage. No one was hurt.
