Lots of folks try to lose weight. A Tulsa chiropractor found a program that helped him with his dramatic weight loss.
News on 6 anchor Craig Day says his loss could gain him a ton of money in a nationwide contest.
As a chiropractor, Terry Tatum works to help his patients lead healthier and happier lives. Last February, Tatum decided to improve his own health. "I was just tired everyday after work. I was sick of that. I didn't like the way I felt. I wanted more energy so I decided to get busy."
Tatum signed up for the Body for Life program to get more energy to play with his son. The program combines a high protein diet with regular workouts. For Tatum, it meant 45 minutes of cardio work each morning. Weight lifting on his lunch hour and sit-ups and pushups at night. "It takes motivation. There's no magic formula. Sweat is what it is going to take."
The hard work paid off. In 12 weeks, he dropped from 21 percent body fat to 8 percent and lost 46 pounds. His waistline went from a size 40 to a size 29.
Tatum sent his pictures to Body for Life for their annual contest. Out of more than 100,000 entrants worldwide, he made it to the top 15. Now he could win $1-million as part of the body for life challenge. "Had I not taken the before picture, I may not have been as motivated. Because everyday I didn't feel like working out, I would look at that picture and decide I've got to work out."
Whether he wins a million bucks or not, Tatum says the process was worthwhile. Having the energy to play with your children is priceless. You can help Terry Tatum advance in the competition for $1-million.
The News on 6 has provided a link to the Body for Life website. Tatum says sometime in the next few days, his before and after pictures will be posted and you can vote for him to help him make it to the top five.
Internet voting counts for one-third of the judges score.
