TECUMSEH, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities have arrested a woman who may be responsible for a string of bank robberies in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.
The FBI says 27-year-old Shelley Ann Vance was taken into custody without incident Thursday night after Pottawatomie County deputies learned the location of a car reported as being used in a McLoud bank robbery on Wednesday.
Investigators believe Vance is responsible for a series of heists beginning with Bison Federal Credit Union September 1st in Shawnee. Banc-First in Stroud was robbed September 23rd and the First State Bank of Wanette was robbed September 30th.
Sheriff Kurt Shirey says Vance was arrested at her home after investigators learned a green Ford Explorer similar to one used in the robberies was being stored in a barn outside Tecumseh.
Shirey says deputies recovered some money from the most recent robbery and she led investigators to a gun similar to that used in the robberies.
