OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Authorities say a man who apparently fell to his death from an overpass onto Interstate 35 shut down rush hour traffic.
Oklahoma City police Sergeant Kevin Barnes says the man was struck by a car after falling from the Southeast 29th Street bridge over the highway Thursday. After the incident, southbound traffic was diverted off the interstate between Southeast 15th Street and Southeast 29th.
Witnesses told police the man parked his car at a nearby restaurant shortly before 5 PM, walked west across the bridge, laid down on a rail over the highway and seemingly inched his way toward the edge until he fell.
The man died at the scene. The condition of the driver who hit him wasn't available.
Southbound traffic was backed up until after 6 PM.
