The Broken Arrow Police Department is a little better prepared to face disasters.

15-year-old Joseph Van Matre was looking for a project to earn his Eagle Scout ranking. So he decided to put together emergency first aid and hygiene kits.

Jospeh gathered donations, and then bought things like sun block, bandages, aspirin and insect repellent.

With the project now complete, Joseph says he's glad he got this together because he's seen how important kits like his can be. "I thought it was even more important I really think, because it gave us, it pointed out even more so, how these could be used in a disaster situation it gave a really good opportunity to show what they could have done."

Joseph put together 100 first aid kits.
