OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Devon Energy Corporation says it's slowly restoring offshore oil and gas production that was suspended in advance of Hurricane Rita.
Oklahoma City-based Devon produced about 80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day from wells located in the Gulf of Mexico prior to Hurricane Katrina, which slammed into the Gulf Coast one month ago.
Devon says it's restored about 30,000 barrels of production. Restoring the rest will depend on further damage assessments and repairs to facilities operated by Devon and other companies.
The company estimates that the two hurricanes reduced the company's overall production in the third quarter by 1.4-million barrels.
