Tulsa County investigators are trying to determine the identity of a human skull found on an Arkansas River bank near Bixby.

Officials say a man looking for fossils found the remains earlier this month near 141st Street and Sheridan Road. He didn't know what he'd found until last week.

The skull was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office, where an anthropologist will study it.

Sheriffâ€™s deputies are also going through missing persons reports in an attempt to determine the identity of the remains.
