NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A University of Oklahoma student has pleaded no contest in connection with the alcohol-related death of a fraternity pledge.

22-year-old John David Hall entered the plea yesterday to a felony charge of providing alcohol to a minor. The Norman resident received a three-year deferred sentence and was ordered to pay $3,000 into an alcohol education fund at the school.

Hall was accused of furnishing liquor to fellow Sigma Chi fraternity member, John Frame, on the night pledge Blake Hammontree overdosed on alcohol and died.

Hammontree was found in the Sigma Chi fraternity house on September 30th after a night of partying.

An autopsy showed his blood alcohol content was .42 percent, five times higher than the legal limit for intoxication.

Hall was one of five students, including Frame, charged with alcohol-related violations in the wake of Hammontree's death.
