Oklahoma soldiers from the 45th Infantry are helping with recovery efforts in New Orleans.
More than 2,000 Oklahoma National Guard members from across the state are in Southern Louisiana. It's not clear how long they'll be gone. Many of those soldiers also served in Afghanistan.
Sand Springs resident Karen Biggs: "Of course I miss him and I want him back home, but I know he's doing something for our country that definitely needs to be done."
The 45th Infantry members were told they would be active until November 30th and that could be extended if needed.
