Some people get a tremendous kick out of breathing new life into old cars.

Last week News on 6 reporter Rick Wells, while on another story in Owasso, saw James Cromer working on an old car in his garage. Wednesday, Rick went back for a closer look at Cromer's Model "A".

James Cromer is rolling out his latest project, he's been working on for two years and he's just about finished. "It's a 1928 Model A sports Coupe I bought it from a guy in Sperry." And when he got it, it was in pretty bad shape. :"When I was a kid growing up some people across the street from my mom and dad had one and I really admired that thing so, I finally found one, 70 years later."

He's reworked what he could, bought new parts when he needed to. Rick Wells: "what they cost when they were new, about 500 bucks?" James Cromer: "$425, that's what it says on the title." He says he's got several thousand in it so far and it runs great. It has few instruments and a ten gallon fuel tank there behind the dashboard, fuel flows to the engine by gravity, which makes driving in hilly country kind of tricky. "My dad used to tell me about he had one, he get low on gas he's have to turn around and back up hills, cause it's gravity fed, he'd just back up turn around and go on."

Sounds like fun having a Model A in your garage leads to lots of visitors. "People come by all the time. Stop, come up and talk to me." Won't be long he'll be showing it off all over town.

This is the 9th car James Cromer has restored. He says he'll keep it until someone comes along who wants it more than he does, then he'll sell it and move on to the next project.
