OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The number of people killed in traffic accidents in Oklahoma is down for the month of August and is nearly 100 fewer than at this time last year.

The Department of Public Safety says 57 people died in crashes last month, down by six from 63 fatalities in August 2004.

The total number of people killed on the state's roads so far this year is 478 -- 94 fewer than at the same time last year.
