A close call for a state transportation worker. His tractor rolled as he mowed a steep embankment along US Highway 75 near Ramona.
The tractor ended up in a heap at the bottom of the bank near some railroad tracks. The mower folded over onto the tractor, which landed on its top.
Driver Jerry Monday was protected by a roll bar, and held in the cab by a seatbelt.
Victim’s uncle Melvin Monday: "It wasn't his time to go, the grace of God kept him alive so that's what we have to be thankful for."
At last word, Monday was in critical condition at St John Medical Center.
