It was a year ago this month that Hurricane Katrina ravaged the Gulf Coast.

After the storm, Oklahomans opened their hearts and doors to those forced to evacuate. Last October, at the peak of the influx, 6,055 evacuees were registered in Oklahoma.

That number is now down to 3,429. 785 of the evacuees still living in the Tulsa area.

Nearly $12.5-million have been set aside to help hurricane evacuees in Oklahoma.
