STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Starting quarterback Bobby Reid shined as Oklahoma State conducted its first major football scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday.
Reid, a sophomore, completed 11 of 18 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns in the 101-play situational scrimmage, including a 45-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Ricky Price, and ran for another score.
``It seemed like (Reid) played very well,'' Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. ``When Bobby plays within our system and controls the ball, he has played well.''
Price led the Cowboys' receivers with two catches for 85 yards, while junior Tommy Devereaux had two catches for 40 yards and a score and Seth Newton had two catches for 35 yards.
Of the five players who shared the running chores, freshman Keith Toston led the way with 15 carries for 54 yards. Junior Julius Crosslin added eight carries for 50 yards and two touchdowns.
``The most important thing is we held on to the football, for the most part,'' Gundy said. ``When you do that you give yourself a chance to win the game. We hit a couple of big plays and ran effectively.''
Junior linebacker Rodrick Johnson had eight tackles, while junior safety Donovan Woods added seven tackles, a forced fumble and an interception, which he returned 40 yards.
All-America heavyweight wrestler Steve Mocco, who has joined Oklahoma State's football team, had five tackles while playing defensive tackle.
