NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Former Oklahoma running back Joe Washington is among 20 of football greats who will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana, this weekend.
Washington rushed for more than 4,000 yards during his career.
In 1974, he earned unanimous First Team All-America status as a running back, was named National Player of the Year and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting.
In 1975, Washington was named First Team All-America as a kick returner and placed fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.
Selected in the first round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, Washington played 10 seasons in the NFL and was named MVP of the Redskins in 1981.
