Passengers waited in longer than usual lines at Tulsa International Airport and Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City Thursday after new security measures were implemented across the nation because of a terrorist plot in Britain.
The plot targeted US flights and involved the use of liquid explosives.
Newly posted signs and audio announcements at both airports warned passengers of new restrictions prohibiting people from bringing liquid aboard airplanes, including toiletries. Items containing liquid ended up in trash cans next to screening areas.
Police officers walked foot patrols and all passengers were required to take off their shoes at security checkpoints.
Passenger lines decreased in both airports after the morning rush period as the flight schedule slowed and more people learned of the new security procedures.
