OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Hornets are looking into the possibility of opening their training camp in New Orleans before returning to Oklahoma City for their preseason games.
Coach Byron Scott says he prefers for his players to prepare away from the comfort of their homes so they can focus fully on basketball.
Last season, the Hornets held their training camp in suburban Oklahoma City before players had a chance to buy homes and settle in.
Scott says he's been a fan of holding training camp away from home since his playing days with the Los Angeles Lakers.
General manager Jeff Bower says the Hornets have examined several potential sites for the camp, including the New Orleans Arena and the Alario Center in New Orleans.
The Hornets open the preseason against the Dallas Mavericks on October 10th in Oklahoma City and play again at the Ford Center on October 13th. After that, they finish the preseason with 5 road games.
