DALLAS (AP) _ Oklahoma senior quarterback Paul Thompson will start his second straight opener for the Sooners.

Adrian Peterson -- within 1,086 yards of breaking the Billy Sims school career record -- was voted preseason offensive player of the year.

Linebacker Rufus Alexander was picked the top defender.
