A Tulsa man is home from the hospital after someone savagely beat him outside his south Tulsa apartment. The attack happened a week ago and Tulsa Police say they have no evidence, no witnesses and no idea why it happened.

News on 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright talks to the victim's family, who is desperate for some answers.

Jason is going to need many weeks to recover from being attacked. A picture taken six days after he was beaten shows some of his injuries. Jason was found in a pool of blood outside his apartment, a place he'd only lived for 10 days.

Jasonâ€™s father, Larry: "Fractured skull, fractured bones here, broken nose, bones behind his nose broken, that doesn't sound good. Cut here, stitches here and here and brain swelling, bruising and bleeding."

Because of the head injury, Jason doesn't remember what happened. Police say he was attacked around 11 PM at the Red River apartment complex Monday, August 1st. They don't know if he stepped outside to use a pay phone, smoke a cigarette or because he heard a commotion.

Tulsa Police Detective Marty Irwin: "Probably got hit and didn't see it coming, didn't know it was there. He hadn't lived in the complex very long. He didn't have enemies. Nobody was mad at him, he doesn't know anybody here."

Jason might've died had someone not seen him and called 911. His family has lots of questions, lots of theories, but no answers or hard facts. "To me, I may be wrong, but it could be drugs. They are crazy and do anything to anybody at anytime."

Larry says it's terrible watching a loved one go through such terrible pain. For now, they'll wait to see if anyone brags about the attack or depend on the kindness of a stranger who's courageous enough to come forward with information. â€œThey could help not just Jason and our family, but others too. That's why I wanted to talk to you. People need to know this goes on, it's out there, and it could hit closer to home than you think."

Tulsa Police hope someone can tell them what the attacker looked like, how many there were, what they were driving or if they went into an apartment in that complex. Of course, they can call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS and stay anonymous.

Police believe the attacker used a baseball bat and hit Jason him from behind, he never even knew it was coming.
