OCTAVIA, Okla. (AP) _ A Broken Bow man dies Saturday night when the para-glider which he was flying crashed in rural LeFlore County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 57-year-old Edward E. Gammon, was flying the para-glider, an experimental aircraft which is not regulation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The OHP says the glider was airborne about 6:45 pm when it became caught on a tree top. That forced the aircraft down into lower trees, which caused it to fall to the ground.
Gammon died at the scene, on private property in the community of Octavia.
A passenger on the para-glider, 55-year-old Robert Wojahn of Stratford, sustained minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene of the accident.
