People trying to keep cool during the heat wave are having a hard time finding one of the hottest items on store shelves.

Many retail stores are running out of window air conditioners. Shelly Batesâ€™ family in Bartlesville had hopes of getting a window unit until repairs could be made to their larger air conditioning system. Instead, they bought a whole new system.

"We just decided we would get the new unit because we'll need it anyway. It's going to stay hot. It's not going to cool off."

Store managers say most people shop by price when it comes to buying a window unit. But with temperatures above 100 degrees, and the supply of air conditioning units low, most people will pay almost any price to keep cool.
