The Tulsa Zoo is expanding the Elephant Encounter exhibit.

They held a groundbreaking Wednesday on a reserve yard and a demonstration yard. The reserve yard will enable the zoo's bull and cow elephants additional space to roam as well as breed. The demonstration yard will allow guests the opportunity to watch the Tulsa Zoo's elephants perform.

Zoo director Stephen Walker: "everybody benefits, the keepers will have a better facility, the animals will have a better facility and the visiting public will have something new and exciting to see."

The exhibit renovations are expected to take about four months.
