A winner in the hotly contested race for Tulsa County District Attorney.

A look at the numbers shows incumbent Tim Harris will retain the office 4 more years. He picked up 54 percent of the vote to Bret Swab's 46-percent.

No Democrats ran for the office.

Tim Harris supporters were elated as the numbers rolled in. The incumbent led the way as votes were tallied. He says he won because he told the truth and had the evidence to back it up.

His opponent, Brett Swab, says he hopes the election brought forth another kind of truth, one that he hopes the District Attorney's office will heed. "Hopefully, they'll make some changes for the better and the community will benefit. That was the main goal of my running was to help the community."

Harris says he has indeed learned a lesson throughout this campaign, which he needs to improve communication with law enforcement. He says he doesn't want the perception that police and prosecutors are on opposite teams.

He says winning the war on crime is a community effort. “With a 90 percent conviction rate, we are well on our way to winning the war against criminals, thugs, gangbangers and murderers."

Harris says he will begin improving police relations this week so everyone's goal of a safer Tulsa County will be accomplished.
