MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors Monday released the name of a man arrested during the weekend in a raid on a cockfighting facility on Indian land near Carnegie.

Shan Gachot was arrested by state and federal law officers Saturday afternoon on felony charges of sponsoring and exhibiting fighting cocks and instigating and providing a pit for cockfighting.

US Attorney Sheldon Sperling says several other people are charged with misdemeanors of sponsoring, exhibiting or transporting animals for fighting. Sperling also says about 70 people face a misdemeanor charge of being a spectator at a cockfight and 15 suspected illegal immigrants were arrested.

Authorities also seized 145 fighting cocks and they have since been euthanized.
