Fearing for her sons’ safety, a Tulsa woman is headed to Cyprus.
Rana Jaafar's 6 and 9-year-old sons are trapped in Lebanon with their grandparents. It's part of their annual trip to Rana's homeland. She lives in Tulsa now, but she grew up in Lebanon. It was a war torn country then.
When the violence overseas sparked last week, it brought back memories of her childhood. Experiences she never expected her children to go through. "That was my biggest concern for my kids because I’ve been through it and I know what they're going through and I don't want them to go through that."
Rana worked tirelessly with the US State Department to make sure her family could get on one of the first ships to Cyprus.
She says her family plans to visit Lebanon again, but not until the fighting is over.
