A special operations team has joined a Tulsa neighborhood in the fight against heroin.
The team served search warrants Monday morning near Newton and Boston after neighbors complained of increased drug activity.
With the popularity of meth, heroin seemed to have all but disappeared from Tulsa streets. But the success of Oklahoma's fairly new meth law could be creating the resurging popularity of heroin. Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office Captain Larry Merchant: “we're finding far fewer labs and our suspects and folks in the business tell us that methamphetamine usage has dropped off considerably but heroin is now being brought in to make up for the demand.â€
Merchant tells the News on 6 they expect to make several arrests. He also says there will be more raids in the future.
