McALESTER, Okla. (AP) A narcotics task force in Pittsburg County pulls up or chops down almost 2,500 marijuana plants, some of which were taller than the officers.
The marijuana bust Monday morning took place in an open pasture northwest of Indianola. McAlester Police Captain Darrell Miller says it was the largest bust by the task force in a couple of years.
McAlester police officer Bryan Spencer says that had the plants matured, they would have had a street value of more than $200,000.
Pittsburg County Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Webb says some of the plants were took big to pull up. For those plants, officers used machetes.
No one has been arrested in connection with the marijuana patch.
