A minister says a Tulsa man is ready to plead guilty to murder. Daniel Johnson faces murder charges in the death of 10-year old Elizabeth Wagoner.
In a News on 6 exclusive, Johnson's minister says he's ready to pay for his crime. Daniel Johnson is behind bars at the Tulsa County jail, facing kidnapping, sexual assault and murder charges in connection with the death of Elizabeth Wagoner. He's been meeting with a Tulsa prison minister and she says he's admitted to killing the little girl.
10-year old Elizabeth Wagoner was abducted just blocks from her home in March. A neighbor found her body behind an east Tulsa strip mall. Daniel Johnson lived nearby and was later arrested.
Prison minister Sharla Yoder with Redeeming Love Prison Ministries, met with Johnson and she says he later confessed to her. She believes he's changed since he found God. "A lot of people wonder if it was fake, but I've been a prison chaplain and I've seen a lot of con artists and I believe it's the real deal with Daniel."
Yoder also says Johnson told her he was on meth when he lured Elizabeth into his home and killed her. What he didn't tell her was "why."
Tulsa Police records show Johnson confessed after his arrest. He has a hearing scheduled for today and attorneys say they can't legally comment on whether he'll enter a guilty plea.
