OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A former captain in the US Army based at Fort Sill was sentenced Monday morning to more than a year in prison for his role in helping smuggle drugs.
Thomas Ball was sentenced to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges for taking $3,000 from men he thought were drug dealers.
The men were FBI agents conducting a drug sting and caught 13 uniformed soldiers escorting drug shipments from Texas to Oklahoma City. All have pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges.
Ball is the highest ranking soldier caught in the sting.
