Former McAlester Newspaper Publisher Owen Jones Dies

MCALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Former McAlester News-Capital publisher Owen Jones has died at age 78.<br/><br/>Jones died Monday in Tulsa.<br/><br/>He started at the paper as a reporter and photographer in 1956.

MCALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Former McAlester News-Capital publisher Owen Jones has died at age 78.

Jones died Monday in Tulsa.

He started at the paper as a reporter and photographer in 1956. He became news editor in 1961 and news production manager in 1972.

He served as publisher from 1987 until his retirement in 1996.

Funeral services will be Friday afternoon at 2 in McAlester.
