NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma defensive linemen CJ Ah You and Larry Birdine are among the 42 players on the pre-season watch list for the annual Hendricks Award.

The award is named for former three-time All-American and NFL star Ted Hendricks and is given each year to the top defensive end in college football.

Ah You was the Big 12 defensive newcomer of the year last year after making 45 tackles, including 12 for a loss and seven quarterback sacks. He was also the defensive MVP in the Holiday Bowl win over Oregon.

Birdine missed the first eleven games last year but was able to return for limited action in the Holiday Bowl.
