OnStar helps Tulsa recover two stolen cars

This story is a warning for all car owners who are a little absent minded when it comes to their keys.

A Broken Arrow woman left her keys in her car and woke up to find both of her vehicles stolen.

News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims tells us thanks to a little hi-tech help, this story has a happy ending.

A little antenna saved one Broken Arrow couple an awful lot of grief.

Mike Davidson says he didn't start the morning in such a good mood. He says he was heading out when he realized he was car-less.

"My wife left her keys and my keys in her unlocked car and when I got up to go to breakfast this morning the cars were gone," says Davidson.

The Davidsons got on the phone to the police and to OnStar.

The Tulsa Police Department's Officer Ron Bartmier says, "We got a call from OnStar that they were tracking a Suburban that had been stolen from Broken Arrow."

With OnStar's help, police were able to track down both cars in no time.

When Mike Davidson arrived to claim his stolen property, he found a surprise waiting inside: a dog.

Police say the Davidsons' Audi was left wide open. That's how this stray schnauzer got inside.

Even the keys were still there, but the Davidson's suburban was locked.

Davidson says, "They unlocked it for me and we looked in it but the keys aren't there. So they have keys and her wallet so we'll have to have a bunch of stuff done."

Not too long later, the suspect walked right into the police's hands.

Mike Davidson says a man walked up to his Suburban and pulled out the keys to try to drive away, right in front of him.

Davidson stopped him and police arrested Thomas Lincoln III for possession of a stolen vehicle.

It all ended up as it should: the suspect behind bars, the cars back with their rightful owners.

Everything except for this poor dog, who's looking for a new home.
