MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) _ The superintendent of the Boynton-Moton school district could face criminal charges following his arrest over the weekend on domestic violence complaints.

Steven R. Henson was released from jail after posting bail on Monday. Henson, 44, was booked on complaints of reckless handling of a firearm, assault on a minor and domestic violence in the presence of a minor, his attorney, Deborah Reheard said.

According to the sheriff's office, Henson was arrested at his rural home at 12:20 p.m. Saturday.

The victim, Kristie D. Henson, could not be reached for comment.

Henson was boys basketball coach at Checotah from 1988 to 1992. He began as Boynton-Moton's superintendent in 2000 after leaving Buffalo Valley.

Steven and Kristie Henson had a divorce case pending in April 2001 in McIntosh County District Court that was dismissed by settlement a month later. Other divorce proceedings have been filed and withdrawn, the latest coming in December, when a hearing was stricken and reset for June 23.
