Oklahoma City, Tulsa Contestants Win Miss Oklahoma Prelims

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Contestants from Oklahoma City University and Tulsa win preliminary competitions during the first night of the Miss Oklahoma pageant at Oral Roberts University.

Miss OCU Lauren Stewart won both the talent award and the newcomer talent award Tuesday night with her vocal performance of the song "This Is The Moment."

The 22-year-old Stewart is from Oklahoma City and is a graduate student at OCU working on her master's degree in music and vocal performance. She will receive $1,500 in scholarships for winning the two competitions.

Miss Tulsa Deidra Hartshorn won the swimsuit competition and a $500 scholarship. The 20-year-old from Hamburg, Arkansas, is a sophomore psychology major at Oral Roberts.
